David Bricknell writes:

Morrissey's official site now states that the Platinum Edition of YATQ will be released in December 2004, pushed back from the previously reported date of 22 November.

Putting to rest much speculation on the anticipated "new" content, the site also reports that the official track-listing (over and above the existing album tracks) will be the nine B-sides released on the already available YATQ singles, plus a DVD (not an enhanced-CD as previously suggested) containing both existing videos for the first two singles, all three live appearances on Craig Kilborn and an extensive back-stage concert photo gallery.

Meaning, of course, that if you've already been a dedicated consumer of all things Moz, you'll already have all the B-sides and the two official promo videos for the singles (you DID purchase the gatefold-version of YATQ with the DVD, right?), but won't have the "new" artwork with the "platinum" (read "silver") background or the three Craig Kilborn live video tracks or the new photo gallery. Is it worth it? Each to their own...

  • but that's because I've been too lazy to root out the singles individually.

of course, that said, as soon as I plunk the money down for the platinum edition, they'll probably come out with a "better" version with more stuff later.

or maybe I'll be good and just wait for the M.E.N. DVD.

I think this may be only for the US ? His official UK site [youarethequarry.net] still states that the release date is the 22nd of November - as do amazon.co.uk [amazon.co.uk] and hmv [hmv.co.uk].

  • Looks like Attack have learned a few marketing lessons from Jackson's Lord of the Rings DVDs. Let's hope they don't use Moz to advertise Pringles though.

  • from morrisseymusic.com:
"Having already produced three Top Ten hits in the UK, Morrissey’s next single for America, “I Like You,” will be released in early 2005."

so, does this mean that "I Have Forgiven Jesus", slated for release this December, is only to be released as a single in the UK, the same as "Let Me Kiss You"? and will this also mean that the UK wont get "I Like You" in 2005? and if thats the case, will "I Like You" hav original b-sides or juste rehashed b-sides from the exclusively UK singles? and we still dont even know what the b-sides are going to be for "I Have Forgiven Jesus", right? so many questions....

  • Can somebody explain to me why Amazon UK advertise 2 YATQ [Delux Edition]'s at different prices, will there be stuff on one that isn't on the other? And will 'I have forgiven Jesus' and 'Let me kiss you' be double CD's again? I'd much prefer if they put all the songs on one CD and charged double, my CD rack will collapse at this rate!

  • Hold on, wasn't there some talk about this a while ago, that the Craig Kilborn videos were also going to be a bonus on the MEN DVD? Don't know for sure, but if this is the case then no-one is missing out by not buying the Platinum Edition (apart from in the unlikely event you want the Kilborn tracks but not the MEN concert).

  • I bought YATQ cd (with bonus dvd), first single (2 CDS), 2nd single, but not the 3rd. The 3rd single (Let me kiss you) had only one b-side. Damned if I was gonna cough up €5 for one new song. Have not been able to get the other cds of 'Let me kiss you' as Galway (Ireland) still exists in the darg ages when it comes to music shops. Am tempted to buy the re-issue/repackaged YATQ but it begs the question - why should I? Its like DVDs, everything is geared towards the braindead casual buyer, and against the fan who buys it on day of release.
