Still more changes to the Quarry Platinum edition traklisting. I got this email from SirenDisc over the weekend, which is now different from the HMV tracklisting. The SirenDisc tracklist includes "No One Can Hold A Candle To You" and HMV does not.

  • Is "No One Can Hold A Candle To You" on the forthcoming "I Have Forgiven Jesus" single? Because re-buying an entire album for one exclusive track is a bit rich, really.

  • Would that be the live version from Manchester or a studio one? It is evil of them to keep tempting poor obsessed fans with new items such as this.

Oh, well - off I will go, shiny credit card in hot little hand . . . again! Still, it would be worth it for 'No-one Can Hold a Candle To You', unless, as you say, it is on the new single, in which case I shan't bother. Are these things Morrissey's idea, or those of the record company? I like to think that it is the latter, or the whole kerfuffle somewhat demeans the lyrics to 'Paint A Vulgar Picture', despite the fact that Morrissey is very much alive.

    To me, my board!
  • Simple. If Sanctuary want to appeal to as wide a prospective cash-ready audience as possible, the track listing should be
Disc One - the original album
Disc Two - a DVD of the Manchester gig with the new studio audio tracks currently NOT available as b-sides.
When the next single is released there should be another fresh batch of new songs.
After all, didn't he say somewhere a couple of years ago that he had 40-or-so songs "ready to go".................

Well, I dare to be a bit critical. Yes, there are some brilliant new songs among the b-sides, but some of them aren't very good at all. Friday Morning? Teenage Dad On His Estate? Munich Air Disaster?

And it took Morrissey seven years to come up with those? That's not a good sign, no, not a good sign at all.

  • Well done Sanctuary! Now they've taken off Mexico, which of course is one of the two tracks that did not appear in the UK on CD in the first place!! Durrrrh!!!!

  • I think the Sirendisc tracklisting may not be accurate. His official UK web site [youarethequarry.net] has posted the tracklisting for the second CD as:

    BONUS DISC B-SIDE COLLECTION:

    2. It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small
    3. Teenage Dad On His Estate

    5. Friday Mourning
    6. Never Played Symphonies
    7. My Life Is A Succession Of People Saying Goodbye
    8. I Am Two People
    9. Mexico

    BONUS DISC ENHANCED SECTION:
    1. Irish Blood, English Heart Video

    3. I Have Forgiven Jesus*

  • Neither listing includes all 12 b-sides that will be out once the Jesus single is released. And if people are buying this for the b-sides, they probably already have the album. A better release would be a disc of all 12 b-sides and bonus material. Or my personal favorite is a box set of the singles with a disc of bonus materials -- like what was done with "The CD Singles, Vol. 1: 1988-1991" and "Vol. 2: 1991-1995." (Why did they stop this after the '95 singles?)

For the casual surfer looking for a list of all the b-sides (chronologically released):

From Irish Blood English Heart (UK CD1):
-It's Hard to Walk Tall When You're Small
From Irish Blood English Heart (UK CD2):
    -Munich Air Disaster 1958
    -The Never-Played Symphonies

From First Of The Gang To Die (UK CD1)
-My Life is an Endless Succession of People Saying Goodbye
From First Of The Gang To Die (UK CD2)
    -Teenage Dad on His Estate
    -Mexico

From Let Me Kiss You (UK CD1):
-Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice

From Let Me Kiss You (UK CD2):
    -Friday Mourning
    -I Am Two People

From I Have Forgiven Jesus (UK CD1):
-No One Can Hold a Candle to You
From I Have Forgiven Jesus (UK CD2):
    -Slum Mums
    -The Public Image

US Residents can get them all at The Ideal Copy [american-data.net] for a large expense.
