  • ...is better than I expected. Love the song (obviously) and bought both my versions yesterday. I am suprised that it is even in the top 20 to be honest when you think of the lack of publicity Moz's singles get to those who aren't his fans. Still, this could all change with the biggest single-buying day being tomorrow, but hopefully not.

  • Didn't he say "I have a song for you and if you record it and release it as a single you'll have your first top ten hit since the sixties" ??? I guess he was talking shite.

I feel sorry for Nancy having her single totally off the radar. Morrissey should have never released them on the same day, because ultimately, he ended up forcing a very financially tight record buying public to choose between them. Poor Nancy.

Yes, Morrissey has sunk to a new low by intentionally kicking the ass of an elderly woman.

  • I wish Duncan James would fuck off, as well as the other members of Blue. They haven't got two brain cells to rub together.

  • I'm sure there was no intention from mozzas point of view to put Nancy out of the top 40. But I am amazed cos I heard her version on the radio loads of times (I think her vocal smells btw)

Why should moz want her not to get in the top 40? It prob means she slod less than 1-2000 copies which is shabby considerin shes been on national tv etc.

Without the cheeky two single releases of the same song I guess moz would be outside the top 20. What for his next relase? half a song on each b side and you have to buy them both and join them up?.... hmmmmm....

  • Would you look at that?? What the hell kind of Top Ten is that? Has anyone even heard that Khia song? It's ridiculous, if you're lucky enough not to have done. It says a lot about the British charts if the only tracks worth their salt in the Top Ten are by older artists (and yes, I'm including Duran Duran. And no, I wouldn't normally include Cliff fecking Richard, but that may be personal taste). As an ardent Moz fan I'm aware that I'm bound to be biased, but I can't even feel any respect for any of these artists, regardless of my opinion of their music. It's a waste of plastic, and my children will never grow up exposed to this humdrum middle of the road SOULLESS music. Rant over.

  • I really don't understand the logic behind this strategy. First off, there are stronger songs from YATQ Morrissey could have released as the next single. Why "give" Nancy this song, and then release his own version, and even worse, on the same day? Was his intention to directly compete against Nancy? Is this Morrissey's egotistical way of proving that he's a bigger star?

My guess is that if they were released at different times both versions would sell more.

  • What a dire top ten - having said that I love "Call on me", addictive song and great video... and as for the Khia song I've never heard it but I approve of the sentiments expressed in the title!!

Come on go out and buy a few copies of "Let me kiss you" - and get Moz into the top 5!

  • Don't take much notice of the so-called 'Top 40' these days.
I believe that we are now witnessing the final throes of a once great institution. Over the last few years 'popular music' has become transparent, lightweight and embarrassing.
The market is desperately clinging on to the revenue created from a few kids and die-hard older fans, with the interest in actually buying from shops diminishing rapidly.
Give it a year or two and just about everyone will be downloading music, which will just about kill off all of the hardware.
'Top 40 Download Chart'.... that's the future of Top Of The Pops. The FatCat Producers so happy to churn out shite after more shite should be ashamed of themselves. They have managed to turn a once great industry into the diluted, spineless shambles we have today.
    It's fucking depressing.

  • if as usual moz sales drop second half of the week he'll be looking at a number 09 spot, not bad really. Unless you get out and buy another copy, look on it as an investment, vinyl copy's of sunny/boxers and other mid-90's stuff are fetchin £10 each now. as for the nancy song, she's certainly plugged it, can't believe it won't chart, maybe attack should of released 3 versions of the same single (like mozz) instead of just one,(cd). come on mozz, come back to blackburn, we love you

  • Much as we all dearly love Moz, would any of us really want him to be our mentor (as Nancy keeps describing him)!!!???
Nancy was interviewed on Teletext this week and said even she was baffled at Moz's decision to release LMKY on the same day.
Moz seems to have scuppered the chances of his best mate getting the decent chart position he promised her..
On the plus side, it'll be amazing if Moz manages to get a third top 10 single in one year. Even the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Keane have struggled to do that.
Also, most of the airplay for Nancy's song was on Radio 2 which hardly ever seems to influence the singles chart (they've A-listed the divine comedy and Bill&Sebastian this year: both commercial flops) but should help raise awareness of the album.

  • Anyone hear Nancy as the special guest on Steve Jones' show on 103.1 today? They talked a lot about their mutual admiration towards Moz. I also thought it was funny when Jones mentioned he called Moz and left a message on his machine, asking if he would like to work with him when he did not have a record deal. Moz never called him back. He also talked about when moz was at the Sex Pistols show at the Greek in L.A. a few years back.

  • Moz is currently at number 5 and Nancy is in the top 40! Moz being in the US, hopefully Nancy will go on TOTP and perform the song on Friday. So go on and buy both singles if you haven't done so already. Chart slaes this week are the lowest of this year. Duncan, the number 1, has only sold 10k so far. In other words. if IBEH had been released this week, it would have been a bonafide number 1 hit!

  • If you total Nancy's sales and Mr. Morrissey's sales for their individual records of this song, it makes you wonder.

If they recorded this song (which is not one of his best songs by any means) as a duet tomorrow it would have been No 1!

Both would have benefited dramatically from this arrangment and chart position.

This time next week Sinatra will slip back to the obscurity she entered in the early 70's.
