It looks like another single from You Are the Quarry is certain.

Excerpt from Boz Boorer's diary:

"Show was pretty wild and due to the number of people on the stage it had a slightly earlier finish. Then we drove back into New York. . . . The next day I spent in the studio in New York doing some remixing for a forthcoming b side. The next two days were the shows at Radio City , another lovely place!"

  • Didn't we already know that 'I Have Forgiven Jesus' was to be the next single?

  • Surely "I Like You" has got single written all over it!? I actually thought it should have been the second single.

    Anyone agree?

  • Well, just recieved my copy of the new "Let Me Kiss You" single. I hope the next release is higher on the B-side quality mark. Morrissey is as entertaining as ever, but really, anyone could have written that music on the B-sides. And no, I don't think the new guitarist adds much. "Friday Mourning" could almost be Oasis. And "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice" got very lost somehow. Disappointed. Truly truly.

  • I think "I Have Forgiven Jesus" and "I Like You" both deserve to be singles. I guess only one of them can be now, but my guess is it'll definitely be one of those two.

  • 4 singles, a platimun YATQ on the way with 'No ONe Can Hold A Candle To You' tacked on it so everyone will buy it.

    Quite a marketing plan, actually.

  • I don't quite get the line of thinking that Morrissey is milking the album with a handful of singles being released. Why is it looked upon as trying to squeeze every penny out of the fans? I welcome each and every single that is released. I tend to find worth in most all of the b-sides and look forward to hearing each and every one. I have never felt in any way that he is trying to get over on his fans by releasing extra songs. I just can't comprehend that way of thinking. Now if he was only releasing all of these b-sides one or two at a time as add ons to YATQ and you had to buy 4 or 5 copies of the album in order to get them all, then I'd be concerned (but probably still foolish enough to buy them). Anyway, I'm not looking to offend, just curious why some fans don't want these tracks released like this. I quite like it

  • is such a capitalistic whore. Why doesnt he act more like his wacky lefty fans? Screw capitalism! Up with socialism(communism too?[shhh.. not out loud :) ] )! More governmental restrictions on album singles! This has gone too far! No blood for music!

  • i have no problems with more singles as long a they have original b-sides. don't care much for artists that do remixes, alt versions or (sometimes) live versions of already released tracks. i feel that moz's b-sides are worth the purchase. if you don't like the idea of more singles then simply don't buy them. as long as he keeps entering the top 10 you can count on another single. and to think that a year ago we were all hoping for anything new to come out. here's hoping for a 5th single!

  • ...its clear that this has been his strategy for quite some time: Release any marketable singles as slowly as possible with adequate B-sides, then cap it off with a throw-away number and a gem or two on the B-side. q.v. Sunny (b/w Swallow & Susan), Certain People (b/w Ripper), My Love life (b/w Changing my plea). But of course we'll keep buying them which is why it works.

  • Hello all..

I understand that people might complain, but I think you should find yourselves lucky, after 7 years without something new. 3 singles = 9 b-sides. A forthcomming album edition with 3 new tracks. That's plenty of new stuff.

"I Have Forgiven Jesus" is my favourite from the album and it would be really great to see it released as a single. Maybe the b-sides will be "Home is a Question Mark" and "The Public Image", plus another track. If this goes ahead and become another Top 10 (which I doubt it) maybe Attack will release another single. If the anonymous post is correct, it'll be perfect for Xmas.

I also think that maybe they'll release another version of the album, something like "The Special Edition" with a 3rd CD containing all the b-sides.

    Bye,

    Miguel

  • It's a great album, but putting 4 singles out usually just results in too much publicity and people getting bored of hearing an artist.

It would have been better to leave the album on a high with a good 3rd single like Let me Kiss You and put out a new track with the b-sides, or better still disappear into the recording studios over christmas and work on the next album.

Please Morrissey, don't release "I Have Forgiven jesus" as a Christmas single! Don't do it! Please!
