FAN-HANDLED - NY Post, Page Six, Oct. 12, 2004

MORRISSEY cut his show short at Radio City Music Hall Sunday night after a security man roughed up a fan. The Maestro of Mope was in the middle of an encore — "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" — when a spectator jumped onstage and was immediately tackled by a bouncer. "Boo to the bouncers!" Morrissey urged, as he leaned into the crowd and shook the fan's hand, reports The Post's Mary Huhn. The cult crooner — who gave shout-outs to his "friend" Nancy Sinatra and joked that he was gathering signatures for a "Jon Stewart for president" petition — left the stage right after the bouncer's buzz-kill, sending his delirious followers back into their usual state of gloom.

  • Good this got into a "mainstream" newspaper. Maybe now our complaints will, at least in a somewhat roundabout watered-down way, be heard by RCMH. They have everything backwards there: from the stupid lettering of their seats to the lack of help at the box offce when you have a ticket problem to the goons they have for security. Morrissey was right when he suggested we were shackeled to our seats. I'm glad he asked and I'm glad we all agreed that the Apollo was much better.

  • Yep, hold the front page. Morrissey leaves stage before the end of final song.

  • I thought the concert was a sweet mix of old and new songs. The walls were definitely shaking during the opening song "How Soon is Now." The new album is got a good flavor as well.

  • Show cut short? They make it sound like Morrissey was going to do 2-3 more songs during his encore & maybe another encore. We all know Morrissey only does 1 song for an encore.

  • Morrissey giving a "shout-out"?

    I sincerely doubt it.
