John, England writes:

'Let Me Kiss You' has already been A-listed on Radio 2, the UK's most listened to radio station (link).

On the link above, they credit the song as Nancy Sinatra and Morrissey but they only seem to be playing Nancy's version described as 'sublime' by Jonathan Ross on this morning's show.

He commented that it was strange how Morrissey is also releasing his version at around the same time.

One wonders whether this whole thing has been properly thought through!

Like I have said before, it seems both stupid and somewhat disrespectful for Morrissey to be releasing his own version at the same time as Nancy. He should have given her another song if he insisted on releasing this one for himself.

I don't think it's like that at all - I think it's quite a sweet gesture having them both release them on the same day, and would never have considered otherwise if I hadn't read some of the comments here. If Nancy really didn't want to record the song or didn't want them to be released together it wouldn't have to happen! I mean, who's losing? There's a lot of acidic old cynics on this site!

  • Personally, I think "Let Me Kiss You" is one of the top 3 songs in the 20-year Morrissey catalogue. Stunningly beautiful track that ranks up there with Please Please Please and There Is a Light.

It's the "make" track on YATQ.

  • Trouble is will radio 2 play nancy's version more than morrissey's.Yet another beautiful track of the recent album it deserves A-list billing.

  • All the talk of Mozzer's new single kinda moves to the back burner. Heard the new U2 single 'Vertigo' that was released to the radio stations today? If its release date precedes or coincides with Let Me Kiss You, the Moz song will be tossed aside as the new U2 song singlehandedly acheives world domination, through a combination of a PR juggernaut that Sanctuary could never mount, and the fact that this new song kicks ass and takes names.

  • It would just be Morrissey's luck to have his biggest hit with a song that everyone thinks is a Nancy Sinatra Original.
