The opening verse of "King Leer" is being used on a sports segment today (CNN headline News) in regards to the chair throwing incident with Pedro Francisco (the pitcher for the Texas Rangers). And "Rubber Ring" is being played before a commercial break at the end of the hour.

Your boyfriend, he
Went down on one knee
Well, could it be
He's only got one knee?

  • whoever works the late shift at CNN has a nice record collection...at least a couple times a week i hear the Cure (usually he/she has Standing on the Beach playing) and The Smiths often pop up-the other night Rubber Ring, and i've heard Stop Me at least twice

New Order, Violent Femmes, Souxie, ect make regular appearances. i'm pretty sure they talked the bosses into the Morrissey and The Cure spots CNN have aired in the last few months

anyways, watch CNN from about 1am-6am (during Rudi Baktiar's (or however it's spelled) shift and you're bound to hear some good tunes.

  • Dear Jim,

Lady Oakland fan needs to stop crying. Getting hit in the beak with a chair is no big deal.

    Sincerely,

    Geraldo

    ...and how?
  • It was Frank Francisco who threw the chair at an Oakland fan. Actually, it just grazed him and hit his wife in the nose. Afterwards, she pressed charges and Frank Francisco was arrested. The couple have since done a press conference spouting about how they bought season seats by the opposing team's bullpen with the intention to heckle. They called it an 'American tradition', sad thing is, they will probably be rich after all is said and done.
