Morrissey was recently voted best performer of the series on Jools Holland after a fantastic 4-song set. I've heard from a reliable source that the programme is hoping to secure another appearance by Morrissey for the New Year's Hootenanny. This could possibly coincide with a new Morrissey single, likely to be "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice."

The source is involved in the production of the programme but apparently they're just at the stage of making the decision - no agreement has been entered into and there's no guarantee Morrissey would play, should a slot be offered.

Let's hope it's true and that Morrissey agrees to play! It would certainly be the icing on the cake of a fine year - acts invited are usually those who make the biggest splash in indie music in any given year, as well as a few Jools favourites.

  • but how do we know this is a reliable source? What if it's the cleaner who heard jools ask his producer whether van morrisson could be tempted onto the show, and he said, "van morrisson! ON OUR SHOW? Never! How about Morrissey.. again?" "No, not after that badger watch comment..."

  • How come everyone is talking as though Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice is definitely going to be a new Morrissey single? There's been no confirmation of this AT ALL - Let Me Kiss You isn't even out yet, and it could be a b-side on that! We're getting ahead of ourselves a bit, aren't we?!
