Morrissey avoids seeing audience trouble

MORRISSEY's tour bosses have ordered security employees to discreetly disperse any crowd trouble during his current tour of Scotland.

The former SMITHS frontman, who is planning shows in Edinburgh, Perth and Paisley, is keen to avoid witnessing any audience chaos - so his security staff have been told to handle troublesome crowdmembers out of his sight.

A source says, "He's got a whole bunch of stipulations.

"If there's any trouble in the pit, we've to make sure Morrissey doesn't see us sort it out."

OFF THE RECORD - The Daily Record

SECURITY staff who are under strict instruction to sort out crowd trouble at Morrissey's Scottish gigs without letting the man himself see it, have, after months of intensive training, come up with a solution. A hood.

As seen in the Daily Record - Scottish newspaper.

MORRISSEY'S tour bosses have told security staff at his Scottish gigs to make sure the former Smiths legend isn't looking if they have to intervene in crowd trouble. Morrissey is planning shows in Edinburgh, Perth and Paisley . An insider said: 'He's got a whole bunch of stipulations. If there's any trouble in the pit, we've to make sure Morrissey doesn't see us sort it out.'

*Note* - this has not been confirmed and seems very, very untrue as it was printed in one of those horrible round bubbles - that suggests rumour as opposed to relevance or respect.

Sure; or he'll suspend the show and ask security to leave.

I'd wish Scottish security staff were all female (and under 5 foot).

  • Does this mean they give an impromptu "blanket party" for the offender?

And what action will cause the need for such a reaction from security?

Does this mean no more stage attempts?

  • If Morrissey wants to avoid seeing the audiance he could wear a mask or a blindfold, or he could perform in the dark. then pepole in the audiance could shoot at the stage with paintball and if they hit Morrissey he has to play the song they want or visit there house for tea or something like that.

i respect Morrissey a lot. im a vegetarian (evereyone in our family is) and if i wasnt one i think 'meat is murder' would have made me one, its horiffying and powerfull isnt it? in fact i'm thinking of stopping being one for a day or two in order to see if 'meat is murder' makes me one again. can anyoene recomend any tasty meat i should try while attempting this? is lamb good?

    best wishes josh.

We know he always tells security this.

But 'clever' manipulation of the words and we get the daft reports above.

  • the crowds at the morrissey shows are WAY out of control. i got repeatedly pushed, kicked, hair pulled, groped etc at 2 of 3 shows and i wasnt even in the pit. i actually did not get injured. that's more than i can say for some of the other attendees.

i dont think i should have to stay home just to avoid this kind of conduct. i go to plenty of shows and this happened at none of the others.

i dont care who is looking or not. security definitely needs to get a handle on this kind of behavior and take it outside.

  • STOP touring and just record. He is clearly in
the wrong business. I'm gonna give orders that
I see no traffic accidents on my way driving home
from work, then to the Strip Club where I'll demand that I not see any nudity. Someone will
have to open the door for me though cause I'm
on strict Doctor's orders not to touch metal today.

  • I saw mozzer in Dundee at the caird hall in 91 (I think) there was a few getting on stage (myself included) and it was all in good spirits - no aggro whatsoever. He's a big ponse these days - the performances were dull when I sae him at MEN and Glasto this year.

  • I mean, does Moz and his boys have some kind of hand signal when to look away? Next time someone throws a flaming shirt on stage, does Moz give them the cue when he's about to turn his back that way they can do the military two-step down the nape of some spectacled kid's neck?

This doesn't come as a surprise as our man Moz has a history of being distracted by people in the crowd. Does anyone remember that time he commented on someone checking their watch during one of his performances? No way he'd notice a cloud of dust with fists, Docs, and flowers flying out of it.

    ...and how?
  • My view on this is that the management want to make sure any scuffles are dealt with swiftly (and most probably brutally, as is the nature of security) but not to let Morrissey see as he tends to get pissed off and any mis-handling of his fans.

Or is it these rose tinted glasses?

And why Scotland? I'm quite sure there's a lot of 'passion' at his concerts south of the border so why the focus on this leg of the tour?

  • If Morrissey doesn't want to SEE his security handle the crowd roughly, he shouldn't direct his security TO handle the crowd roughly, then he wouldn't have to see it happen.

I mean, c'mon, did anyone see the list of things you weren't allowed to bring in in a forthcoming US concert? You can barely bring keys in without it being considered as a "weapon". You can only imagine how strict it'll be once you're in there.

I jus remember the story of that gig in 92 at a US university where he stopped everything to tell off security for dragging someone away, it seemed very valiant... Maybe Moz is too old to be valiant, he jus wants to play and go home.
