In the newest issue of VISIONS (no.136/august 2004) ) is an 14- pages SMITHS/ MORRISSEY special. VISIONS is the biggest music magazine for alternative music in Germany. in the past issues they always had some MORRISSEY related news but they never really gave a damn about him until YATQ. so, i think they just want to be part of the new "hype". i have to admit that i haven't read the article yet. it's mainly a short SMITHS- history,then a piece called "under the influence" where they list 10 records that would not have been possible without the music of MORRISSEY (such as R.E.M.'s 'Automatic For The People' and OASIS' 'Definitely Maybe'), then there is a JOHNNY MARR interview, some nobody from a german band called TOMTE (who the fuck is this?- i don't know!) talks about MORRISSEY and they talk about 6 SMITHS records (the regular albums and 'Hatful of...' and 'Louder than...'). also there's a short article about what came after THE SMITHS, and at least there's an 'exclusive' interview with MORRISSEY. in fact it's the german translation of the MOJO interview! i think it's quite a lot of stuff and definitely worth checking out, especially it's in german and MORRISSEY is very rare in german press... sorry, i don't have the time to translate the whole thing, sorry! maybe someone has too much freetime and feels the desire to translate it! VISIONS always comes with a free cd. on this issues cd is a band called HUNDRED REASONS, who cover 'HOW SOON IS NOW?'... is there any punishment for slaughtering a perfect song? if so, then this band has to be accused! the scans are attached: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15.
