You Are The Quarry has entered the Dutch Album Top 100 at #30, the highest entry for this week. If trends set by Alanis Morissette (now #1 in its second week after entering at #43) and Lenny Kravitz (#3 from #97, also in its second week) are anything to go by, this bodes well. (But don't hold your breath.)

Actually, I'm already satisfied by the fact that the album is currently easily outselling Britney Spears and No Doubt, not to mention Marillion (steady at #43 in its third week — bye bye, boys) and Atomic Kitten (at #51 down from #35 in only its third week — ouch!).

  • You may not like Marillion - neither do I - but I do respect the fact that they've had a hit album and a Top 10 single in England purely through their own efforts, with no help from a major label at all. When Morrissey is in this position in, ooh, about 2-3 albums time, you'll be glad that Marillion made it possible.

Judge not, lest ye be judged...
  • How can you say Moz will be in Marillions position in 2-3 albums time??? Didn't The Smiths and Marillion start at about the same time? And hasn't Marillion not been in this position for the last 15 years? After 'Kayleigh' I never heard from them again.
And the way Quarry is selling, it is sure to pass the 1m copies sold worldwide, so Sanctuary would be foolish to let Moz go. I can see a fruitful cooperation for the next 5 years at least.

  • No need for the sarcasm about Marillion. They have never said or done anything against Morrissey.
