The new issue of City Life, out on Wednesday, features an article on Morrissey as well as a small piece on the photographer Stephen Wright, of Salford Lads Club fame..

Here are a couple of quotes from the article:

“I often wonder what people expect of me, but I don’t make any attempt to provide it.”

“I went through great gulps of doubt wondering whether there was actually any point to it,” says Morrissey of the gap between the critically panned 1997 album Maladjusted and You Are the Quarry. “But I was always overcome by the basic rush for the passion of pop music which, despite what we see, I still feel. I can’t give up hope.”

“I’ve made an album which I really love and it changes my life and pushes me forward.”
