Just heard that Morrissey will be a guest on next week's Kevin and Bean show on 106.7 KROQ in Los Angeles. I was unable to confirm what day he would be on. Morrissey has had a long history with the station, he has been on a few times. The last was in 97 with Jed the Fish to promote Maladjusted.

Is it going to be one of those Breakfast with so-and-so things like they did w/ Radiohead and Coldplay? That would be better than listening to them ask things like "Why are you so depressed?" and "Are you having sex yet?". Kevin and Bean are lame-OHS! Please don't go on KROQ, please.

  • I just heard on Kroq announce some sort of
"Morrissey Mania", that will air on Monday at 7:00 A.M. They mentioned it will be good news for us Morrissey fans. I think that along with them having him on the show, they might also play pieces of the new material. There's only one way to find out...

  • I think if Moz is going to be on KROQ, he should be on Rodney's show, the only redeeming thing left about KROQ (and GOD I wish I could listen to that show online!!!!).

However, I feel he'd be better suited for KCRW's morning show (Morning Becomes Eclectic), which many many people listen to and which you can listen to online (I do all the time).

I am going to check out that Indie 103.1 station now though (hopefully will make this day go faster!), thanks for the tip!

  • Does it really matter where or how or with whom Moz promotes his album. Jay-Z was on Kroq promoting his song 99 problems, none of his fans were on message boards bitching and complaining "why is he on Kroq" "fuck Kroq" "kroq Doesn't play rap" Are there any real true Moz fans out there that have some sense and think "hey thats great, it's another opportunity for me to hear a NEW Moz interview". If you like Indie then cool, Kroq is not out there bashing them, but obivously Moz chose Kroq, and not because he knew you could actually hear his interview without static but because of his relationship with Kroq. But don't start packing those sleeping bags cause we all know how flakey he is and what if he doesn't even show... all this nonsense for what? So I figure im a fan and so is my girlfriend and if he was gonna be at Kroq or Indie or at the fucking Wave for that matter I would still listen to the interview. If you think Kroq suck balls then thats what you think, but if they were giving away pit tix to his show or having a special breakfast with Moz you would be there listening, and trying to win right along with the other fans who have common sense.

Please re-read through this reply if neccessary.

One thing I can't stand about being a Morrissey fan is all the other fans who are so fucken controlling.
Dressing like him, acting like him, stalking him... it appears some of you want to tell him what to do or where to go...
"Dont go to Kroq, go to Indie"
Why can't you people leave him alone?

He can do what ever the fuck he pleases...
I don't care where he promotes his album.
All anyone should care about is that there IS AN ALBUM and support him.

See all you shit talkers @ KROQ! :)

  • Following on the great comments from "mygirlgotmeintohim"... I too really can't understand why people complain which media outlets Morrissey chooses (or his managers choose). It's all good!

In the case of Morrissey it *especially* doesn't matter which outlet, because the man will always be 100% himself and no circumstances will change him (does he sound like someone who's lived in L.A. for years??). No matter how "lame" or "cool" the venue, he remains unphased.

In fact, "lame" outlets can be fun in their own way since it sometimes rubs him the wrong way or brings out things he may not say in a situation where the hosts are so reverent.

  • Last year Morrissey said he always wished for the level of publicity given to the likes of Coldplay or Radiohead...

It looks like Sanctuary are going to give him the push he wanted.

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less if Morrissey appeared on Ground Force to promote "Quarry".

All any reasonably minded Morrissey fan should wish for is for this album to shift enough units to allow Morrissey to make more records and tour (if he wants to)...

Morrissey, you complain about interviewers asking the same old boring questions. A lot of us are tired of seeing you asked the same old boring questions too. So...why not call Baba Booey and go on the HOWARD STERN SHOW! Whoa, that would be wild. Be brave, Morrissey. You can survive Howard. If David Bowie could do it so can you!

  • kroq has always been good to moz ever since the early nineties with richard blade. i think moz is doing this because he has good ties with all the staff. i really don't think morrissey knows about what the station plays and what they don't. the smiths/morrissey happen to be one of the most popular bands on the station's list so i just think he's doing this as a sense of gratitude.
