I went to the Billy Bragg gig last night in Cologne. It was a great show, and as always, he made a lot of jokes about Morrissey. At the end of the gig he told that he went to see Moz in his house in LA.

They had a good talk, and after a lot of "pints of tea" they went to bed. Billy had to sleep on the first floor in a room that looks like a room in the "Addams Family". It was very cold and there were no toilets on the floor, so he had to went down to the bathroom to get a hot-water bottle. It was warm here and Jimmy Sommerville was lying on the sofa drinking some beer. So he went back up again and recognised that there was a blue rubber sheet on his bed. So probably OASIS were also guests in the house and couldn´t make their way down to the toilet. It was so funny. Then he played a song called "Cindy of a thousand lives" which turned right into "Reel around the fountain".
Billy is still one of my all time favourites...

The real exclusive here is that Monsieur Bragg urinated in Moz's hot water bottle.

Next time I'm stopping over at Morrissey's I'm going to use the electric blanket.....

  • First of all, I would have to bring an overnight bag with all my essentials, including hygiene and grooming products.

Second, I would perhaps bring a film for the DVD player, or perhaps a CD to listen to? (something new and exciting)-

I would wear my best suit and (lastly) bring something for Morrissey- perhaps a bottle of wine? I am not sure... Maybe a book?

I would use my best manners and social skills to present myself as a gentleman. At night, I would mummify myself in the guestroom with Morrissey's comforters and thank God for the chance to meet Morrissey. The only beer I drink is O'Douls, so I think I would be a boring guest. Maybe not since I can qoute some poetry. Perhaps Morrissey and I could plan an event at the Chicago cultural center in downtown Chicago.

    Truly,

  • I'd like to huff spray paint with Morrissey, in his garage. Then we could invite various people over; I'd sit in a corner and not talk, but make our guests get that awkward, tingly feeling in their ass. After the awkwardness wares off, we could dress a bunch of stuffed animals, throw on some lipstick, those shoulderless sweatshirts and a tank top underneath, leg warmers, pumps and lipsync various soul 45's to our stuffed audience. It'd also be fun to drive around suburban neighborhoods at 3:30 a.m. on the weekdays... peel out, throw eggs and make children wonder: "who the hell would be out driving around like that... in the middle of the night??? STRANGERS!" Then I'd jump behind a drumset and help moz create a catalog of poorly-produced four-track recordings, only to throw them on some underground market years from now... when we're both long gone.

    I yarf.

  • Köln, me too (Score:3, Interesting)

I was there too and also enjoyed his story about sleeping over at Morrissey's house a lot (read my journal). After the show I told him that it got a mention here on Morrissey-solo and he asked about the "Reel around the fountain" bit (if it also got a mention) and said that he has listened a lot to the first smiths album recently. I then asked if he was looking forward to the new Morrissey album and he seemed excited and said "Yes,yes!". To his question if I go to Manchester I had to deny, and so did he.
He still seems to be a fan like us!

Life can only be understood in reverse.
  • but am I right in thinking that he lost the plot quite severely after his first album in the early 1990s (with Sexuality, Tankfire Salute, Everywhere, etc)?
still, he's a clever and funny guy and well worth seeing live for what he says between songs as much as for the music.

  • With BB in one room and Somerville in another, perhaps Moz had Paul Weller, Robert Wyatt and the rest of the Red Wedge crowd stashed all over the house.
