Exclusive: Full Heineken Green Energy Bill Announced: Ritter, Morrissey, Iggy Pop and The Streets

    11 Mar 2004

hotpress.com can reveal the line up for the 2004 Heineken Green Energy Festival, which returns to Dublin on the June Bank Holiday weekend - June 4th through 7th - in the courtyard of Dublin Castle.

The Opening Night (Friday, June 4th) features Hot Press Readers Poll conquering Josh Ritter, [pictured right by Roger Woolman] The Idahoan native has been playing to packed houses already this year in the Olympia, Black Box and Cork Opera House, but this will be his biggest solo show to date. Ritter confirmed his ascent to the higher echelons of the Irish scene when he scooped the top spot in Best Male and Best Songwriter and also achieving a highly commendable 3rd in The Best Album in the international section of the Hot Press Readers' Poll.

Then on Saturday 5th, as already revealed on hotpress.com, the courtyard will receive a visit from Morrissey. Go here for full details.

Sunday 6th sees Iggy Pop and The Stooges making a very welcome return to Irish shores. Pop famously enjoyed a wild night at HQ in Abbey Street seeing everyone from Bono through to Marlyn Manson on stage - with Andrea Corr shaking her thing on the Balcony! We don't know if we can promise those kind of special guests on this occasion, but we can confirm that both the Asheton brothers (Ron & Scott) of the original Stooges line-up will be performing with Iggy.

Finally, Monday 7th closes the festivities with The Streets promising to rock the courtyard to it's very foundations. Mike Skinner's super sharp combination of patter, beats and loops from real life England should prove to be the perfect climax to what's going to be a hectic weekend. With the follow up to Original Pirate Material close at hand, this will be Skinner's first chance to roadtest the material in front of what wll be sure to be a very enthusiastic Dublin crowd - especially if his gigs in the Ambassador and Witnness are anything to go by.

Tickets for the shows start at €39.50 and go on sale on March 20th.
