  • i'd rather have the full CD in original packaging!

not that i don't champion the idea of this, of course. its about time that labels started taking a mature take on downloading songs.

    I scare dead people.
  • This is shocking, I admit a shabby copy of 12 times copied tape of Hat Full Of Hollow may have done for a day but....

Morrissey encapsulates a demension of reality that needs the covers and the artistic might he musters into any little piece of paper they give him a jab at.

There is no way I am going to just download the songs and let that be that.

unless ofcourse......I am forced too, egad what are we letting ourselves get to now.

  • I think the point is being missed. Sanctuary is just getting on board with all the other Music companies here. There will always be a place for the jewel case retail version of the CD, but the digital format opens more streams for revenue. I for one have downloaded songs form itunes, musicmatch, etc.. from work, because I was in the mood to listen to a song, and didn't have my CD's with me, or my MP3 server running. I think this could just help increase sales for our boy, which might help extend his recoding career.

    My 2 cents.

  • hey everyone...this seems to be more than a digital download deal if you dig a bit at this site.

What it looks like to me is that they aren't selling just music files or even compressed audio. This is an actual CD that is created on your machine and once that is completed you are given a chance to print all of the art work. I guess it will have to pass your ears and not just mine but they are saying that this is a "real" CD purchase, art and all. I'll tell you what... It is refreshing to be able to get an uncompressed copy of pretty much anything in half an hour. I know that when I buy the album I don't want to pick it up somewhere as a compressed download. I don't know of anyone else that is actually selling a full retail quality CD in this way and I am all for anything that gives me alternatives while also increasing the world's ability to purchase actual quality CDs.

There just is no question to me that if I have the choice of the full audio deal or a compressed version I want to hear EVERY little nuance that is in the original recording ( I am sure that all of you feel somewhat the same. I want to hear every breath and every tiny sound that was recorded...Isn't that why we buy all of his stuff?) I don't think there is a single audio bit that shouldn't be there when I listen. I mean, really, Why did he recorded it with every one of those sounds? Every sound is there because that is what he meant to record. I would guess that he would want to be sure the fans get all of the recording and I can't think that I am alone in wanting that experience :). Compression just sounds bad to me, I guess). I also think that anything that might help this album do well (and thus generate the next and the one thereafter) is something that, at least on some level, I want to support.

Not saying I am going to skip the hike to the store...

but I am, admittedly, intrigued by this whole idea. I hope that is DOES help increase sales. I am in total agreement with you on that suedehed!
