On page 10 of the review section of The Guardian today (Friday 4th April) is a nice article about Morrissey's upcoming remix album. It's also on the web:

Don't hang the DJ

Can this be true? Morrissey has mixed a compilation album - featuring the Ramones, Patti Smith... and Diana Dors. Alexis Petridis reports

    hahahha very true indeed

  • Aha! Maybe his Mighty Mozzerness took a break from touring to enjoy half a semester of "Mixology & Rythym Theory" at the Berklee College of Music. And it has produced this!

  • Heh heh... Morrissey mixing the disc! This is going to be great! When I tell my friends that Morrissey liked such stuff as "The New York Dolls" and "Diana Dors", they think that it's insane. But who knows what he'll come up with....

  • Nothing to get too excited about... it's probably a copy of one of his tour intermission tapes. Looks like he's putting that iMac to good use.

  • Would it not be a sight to see Moz deejaying at the local indie night? I can see him now doing the pogo to 'Blitzrieg Bop'!

  • this is going to be great...
Even if it is going to be just like one of the intermission tapes from a gig it'll be great!
As long as we're getting quite a good range.
Obviously we'll be getting Innocent and Vain by Nico, but I hope we get some Klaus Nomi, Ludus and stuff like that. And I really hope he puts Whatever Happened to baby Jane (Jean?) because I can't find that anywhere!

Oh, and I was wondering, does anyone know about availability of this? Do you think it's the kind of thing they'd stock in a small branch of HMV in a town in the heart of Suburbia? doesn't seem so, really!

    FAMOUS WHEN DEAD
  • "My Top Ten" was a Radio 1 programme in the eighties, the presenter was Andy Peebles,it's a bit like "Desert Island Discs"
Morrissey did a show and it was god-awful, he picked the most obscure girl group stuff ever.
The BBC were recently thinking of repeating it this May but changed their minds when they heared it after all these years.
I don't think this compillation will be a best seller.

  • It won't sell (Score:2, Interesting)

If you consider the bands Moz is usually fond of (if you except the all-time-Mozzer-Bedroom-Posters-on-the-Wall-Onanist classics such as NYD, T-Rex or the great Patti Smith), he often comes out with the crappiest stuff that only inspires HIM and no one else. Just check the guest bands at his gigs : Phrank, Gallon Drunk and what else ? Woodentops, Primitives and Bradford in the 80's, do someone remember this s... ? Hopefully, DMC may not commit the perfect commercial suicide and would 've helped our Moz to be intelligible by all audience !

And don't pretend you enjoy listening to Sandy Shaw day and night, I wouldn't take it !
