Doing a search for Smiths' images on Google yielded this find,

http://www.wayno.com/rhino_art/smiths.html
(you can also select www.wayno.com / Entertainment Giants / The Smiths )

An illustration made by artist "Wayno" of the four memebrs of The Smiths. It was commissioned by Rhino Records. If you then figure that Rhino would only be needing illustrations of artists they have a stake in, you might then assume that this is a precursor to a future Smiths' Rhino release of some sort.

  • old. The other three portraits are pretty good comic-style likenesses of the early days, though.

  • These are the worst drawings ever.

Marr looks about 75 years old and Morrissey looks something like a quiffed chimp.

Joyce and Rourke just look daft.

  • seems ears aren't this guy's strong point.

Marr looks very ill, the rest look like they're smelling a pleasant aroma

  • The reference pic seems to be the Salford Lads shot from The Queen is Dead. That still doesn't explain why Johnny Marr is 68 and has a bird wing stuck to his head...

  • Dear Jim,

I'm suing 'Wayno' and Andy Rourke for the use of my likeness.

    Sincerely,

    That Copper Kid from 'Silverhawks'

Watch out clones, I hear Lion-O might get in on the action as well.

    ...and how?
  • Any Aussies reading this?

Johnny Marr looks like Rob Sitch from 'The Late Show' and 'The Panel' - dressed up as a sleazy night-club owner.

    Too esoteric, you think?

  • Well, it's pleasant enough. Don't expect me to want any prints, however. There is something about the ears - every member, in their own way, reminds me of Ian Brown from the Stone Roses. And Johnny Marr looks like a frightened weary townie from one of the old Hammer horror pics. He looks 20 years older than he looks now - quite strange. Still, it's nice someone has a hobby. If the artist actually drew these images in action poses, it could be really fun. Let's see...

    1) These characters in a court room.
    2) Marr listening to Electronic's weak "Twisted Tenderness" final mix with the same expression. Perfect!
3)Morrissey constantly wiping his nose on his sleeve at the Tucson 2002 stop.

OK, enough sniping. Here's some positive ideas:
    1) a parody of the Beatles/Ed Sullivan Show.
    2) Morrissey cleaning house for a tea party.
    3) These four in a vegetarian shop.
    4) etc. etc.
