Morrissey is confirmed to play in Athens, Greece at the fairly new "Gagarin" club, on 5-6 October. Tickets will be on sale possibly tomorrow, priced at 35 Euros. It is expected to be an easy sell out, due to the fact that the venue doesn't hold more than 1000.

If they do do the album in Dec., as they are REALLY hoping to, then there will will be a full scale tour afterwards in 03'. So there you are....

  • Wow! That would be really cool if they were to play Greece again. I was so sad I could not go to Dublin to see the shows, but I would even more like to see them play Greece. Weren't the Greece shows in 99' really mad, wild affairs? I hear he has a really strong following there. That's great. It reminds me that LA is not the necessarily the center of the Moz universe.

  • I am extremely angry with all the people complaining about Morrissey playing two dates in Athens. I know I shouldn't bother, but why do people, especially the Americans, believe that they are the centre of the universe? Greece is a beautiful country, Moz has a strong following here and he obviously enjoyed the reception he had last time he visited. I am deliriously happy that Morrissey is coming here and I would feel very happy for all the Moz fans, if he could play to any country. Ignorance is the beggining of racism.

  • I had to complain about people undermining the importance of a Moz gig in Athens, not only because of 2-3 postings in this place, but because I saw the same reactions (and even worse) back in 1999, when he first came to Athens and I saw again very racistic remarks (mainly by U.S. citizens) when he did the South America tour. Definitely the U.S. is a huge music market, Moz has found a warm and welcoming home there and the American fans deserve huge tours due to their devotion, but a small country, such as Greece, deserve a gig (or two) every now and then. I really hope he will play in every place that Moz fans exist. I just still get the feeling that fans that do not come from the U.S. or Britain are believed to be "second-rate" fans, which is my sad conclusion after visiting the site, or taking part to the Moz-solo chat. Some things really never change!
