An extremely positive review of the Royal Albert Hall show, especially the comments regarding new songs. The concert was awarded 4 stars out of 5. Follow the link:

Morrissey, Royal Albert Hall, London - by Dorian Lynskey, The Guardian
Thursday September 19, 2002

Excerpt:

While some musical icons sully their mystique by embarking on ill-advised drum'n'bass ventures or hanging out with Keith Allen, Morrissey's consistency is admirable. Recent glimpses of the former Smiths frontman's life in Los Angeles reveal a man still sexlessly reclusive, still seething over perceived injustices and still utterly convinced of his own genius, even though no record label has deigned to offer him a deal.

Fortunately, there are enough fans who share Morrissey's conviction to sell out two nights at the Albert Hall. The place is teeming with greying quiffs, Smiths T-shirts and gladioli, the singer's old trademark. One pair wield a Liverpool FC flag emblazoned with the title of a Smiths song, There Is a Light That Never Goes Out.

  • fook those bastard thieving cunts that is hated by all except by their own, really funny that they should want to associate themselves with a mancunian who went to see Man U with his dad.
And the song they referred to can never be theirs as they can stick to that You'll never walk alone tune which they stole from Glasgow.
Cam they be anymore pathetic and who the fook let those curly haired bastards in wearing pink tracksuits?
Now there's an issue for Tony Blair to deal with and i'd say it's far more urgent than the Saddam issue, don't you find?

  • The flag at the Royal Albert Hall was mine. Thankyou to all the very very nice things said to us Scousers with the flag. Everything surrounding both concerts was moving. No-one took offence to the phrase being used on a Liverpool Football Club flag. People kept coming up to me saying: "We don't support Liverpool FC but love your flag." EVen Linder sterling told us: "The flag is lovely" - she had her photo taken with it. There has only been one person to attack us over the flag and that is the eloquent internet user. He did not have the guts to challenge us in person at the Royal ALbert Hall. Was he even there? "...you'd be the first away - because your that type".

  • The Smiths were so ahead of their time, I want to go down in musical history morrissey sang, well there's no danger of that not happening
