Does anyone in the L.A. area have a copy of NME's 50th Anniversary issue (published in April) in which The Smiths were named as the 'most influential band on the NME'?

If so, please contact me and/or bring it to the taping of Thursday's Craig Kilborn show if you are planning on heading out there. Thanks.

...it would probably be used as some kind of prop for Craig to hold up and show his audience. I mean, most Americans today haven't even HEARD of Morrissey, much less the Smiths. To be able to somehow "prove" their importance by holding up a magazine that proclaims them the most influencial band would be serve as...I dunno...proof of sorts.

  • It's funny...people keep complaining that the NME named the Smiths the most influential band (because NME has been so unkind to Morrissey) but they didn't...it was the most "influence on NME in the course of our 50 years as a title." It's influence on the magazine, not in general. Although, I'm sure we'd all agree that the Smiths/Morrissey are...we just don't need the NME to tell us.

  • Does anyone in a large canister of Judith Haan's phlegm have a copy of Eagle featuring Dan Quayle 109th Anniversary issue (published in braille, by lemurs) in which Charles & Eddie were named as the 'most influential band on Bill Maynard's whippet'?

If so, please contact me and/or the quartz octopus in my garden, bring it to the shaping of Thursday's Craig David-culling exhibition if you are planning on giving head to Anthony Head. Thanks.
