Tickets go on sale Sat at Noon for the Santa Barbara show (Sept. 5)... the front lawn will serve as a general admission "pit". Check the Nederlander site to confirm.

The lawn area is in the back, I think.

My understanding, according to the Santa Barbara Bowl [sbbowl.org] seating chart [sbbowl.org], is that the lawn/pit area is in front of the stage. There are "4,423 total seats with flexible seating in the front lawn area and 20 wheel chair accessible seats."

This place is even smaller than the Greek Theatre Morrissey played at back in October 1997 -- their seating capacity is 6,150.

As a side note, "Due to space limitations, backpacks, large bags, ice chests and picnic baskets are prohibited." And "The Bowl provides a wide variety of food and beverages for purchase. No outside food or beverages are allowed excluding sealed store purchased bottles of water."

I went to see Radiohead at the Bowl last year, and I was on the lawn. It is in the front, before all of the seats. It's a big lawn that can hold maybe like 1200 or so people. The pit is a seperate section, in front of the lawn though. The pit is the closest to the stage, and it can hold about 200 or so people. The pit, is just that. It is actually a pit in the ground that is lower than the stage or the rest of the crowd, and you are about neck level with the stage. On the lawn, you are pretty much at the same level as the stage, so lawn seats are actually better than pit seats as far as a view. If you want pit tickets, good luck getting them, as the pit there is tiny.
