This Night Has Opened My Eyes, Dec 7th

NYC's only Smiths/Moz party returns with a very special guest, rockabilly legend Boz Boorer from Morrissey's band! He'll be performing a set of songs that have had great meaning to him over his storied career, and judging by his past setlists, possibly some Morrissey solo songs as well.

The event will be taking place at:
Don Hills, 511 Greenwich St (corner of Spring)
Doors at 9:30, $10*

*Special internet promotion for Morrissey-solo readers: Please visit www.homegrownproductions.com to print out an internet only flyer, which will grant $5 admission before 11:00. Morrissey-solo.com is the only place we're advertising this reduced admission flyer.

If you've been to our past events (The Salford Lads, Mike Joyce/Andy Rourke), you'll know you can expect a great time with DJs and dancing, contests, and more!

  • Go to this event.

The last one with the "other" smiths" was excellent. I didn't want to go home when it ended.

Go, and post about how wonderful it was on this website :)

  • here are the morrissey songs that boz played & sang last night, for those who couldn't make it. (correct me if i'm missing one)

Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself
    Jack The Ripper
    Certain People I Know
    Pregnant for The Last Time
The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get
    Cosmic Dancer

a few interesting covers were Jeepster (T. Rex), Changes (Bowie) and Goody Two Shoes (Adam Ant).

all-in-all a great show. Boz's own material was new to me, but really fun to hear for the first time. he threw in everything from the first song he ever wrote, to a song about Noah's Ark, to a song he wrote about his father who was hospitalized. it was a pretty diverse set. Boz later told me that he was pretty nervous at first, because he's not used to singing and being the sole focal point of the audience.

i got to talk to Boz very briefly after the show, and he confirmed himself that he'd be playing with Adam Ant next year. on Moz, he said that there are 15 new Boz & Alain songs ready to be recorded, but... you guessed it, no record deal. he gave me the impression that Morrissey is not trying that hard to get one. i hope i didn't misinterpret that. he also joked that Moz is pretty hard to get a hold-of, as "nobody's got his phone number".

i guess it makes me feel better knowing for certain that there is new material, but Morrissey, if you're reading this... can we hear it, please?!

  • i liked his version of certain people i know which he mixed with trex's ride a white swan.

also there was a guest singer, i believe his name is Andy and he apparently was a singer in Marc Bolan's first band
