There is a website called uplister.com which contains a section entitled celebrity playlists. Among the celebrities are Pat Wilson of Weezer who cites "William It Was Really Nothing" and "Ordinary Boys" as two of his favorite songs. He includes a sentence or two about each song. Manic Street Preachers include "Paint A Vulgar Picture". The site has more to offer but its always cool to see what other artists listen to.

2. William, It Was Really Nothing by Smiths, The
It's just so unbelievably musical, and there's no bands out right now that get popular that are really musical and have something really cool to play and say, and that aren't embarrassingly frat boy jerk-off rock.

9. Ordinary Boys by Morrissey
Reminds me of where I grew up, and reminds me of the hopelessness I felt about winding up not doing anything cool with my life there. It's kind of a funny song, too. I think a lot of people don't get Morrissey, because they misinterpret him for being a morbid, morose guy but I think half the time, he's actually being funny, and people don't get that.

2. Paint A Vulgar Picture by Smiths, The
"I was a huge fan from the start, and then I went off them for a long time, but I've been really liking Strangeways a lot lately, 'Paint a Vulgar Picture.' It's the best ever piss take of record companies and media, and radio, and everything.

"There's one line in there: 'Will tour/media whore/please the press in Belgium.'

"There's a sense of humor on that record, as well. Morrissey was very, very into his charts and liked to put a lot of effort into his singles, and was really annoyed when 'That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore' didn't get into the top 40."
