Alan McGee of Poptones and previously Creation Records (from an interview with German music-website intro, translated):
'There are people like Shane MacGowan or Morrissey, who would like to release on poptones. But it's too simple for me. I want to help new artists develop. Stars like them should better go to Universal and make lots of money from their contracts. I don't want Creation No. 2! Poptones is, what Creation should have been. More interactive with the audience, more multimedia...'
Ich will kein Creation No. 2! Poptones ist das, was Creation hätte werden sollen. Interaktiver mit dem Publikum, mehr Multimedia)

  • Yeah, he's got to say that because he knows Morrissey would be the shining star - shine above all other artists connected to that record company.......and also it would put a whole lot of pressure on him, cos he would have a dang hard time finding someone more original than Moz.........So Alan McGee, that argument is just too cheap, and you only use it to cover for your own as* :-)

Will you put your arms around me, I won't tell anybody
  • Morrissey is not interested neither in Alan McGee nor in Poptones... He is interested now both in Asian Girl and in Michael Stipe ;-)

P.S. About those lengthy debates... I would not buy this DVD for $29 bucks, either legal or illegal. People, get real... Save your pennies for the trip to Disneyland to see Micky and Minny... Cheers...

  • I just emailed poptones--hope at least someone reads it, ha ha. Anyway, I find it entertaining that these record companys's feel Moz cannot live without them. Sure, I want new Moz like everyone else, but small recording industry such as the "puppytones", couldn't afford Moz anyway. Maybe they should stick with their bubble-gum and garage bands who are just happy to be heard. Steve
